Beckoning Cat Project

Beckoning Cat Project's mission statement is community solutions for cats. After determining what was most needed, we opened a low cost spay/neuter clinic for cats in January 2014. As of January 2018 we have spayed or neutered over 15,000 cats. We have no income or geographic limitations. If you have a cat, it is welcome to use our services. While pets are welcome, our focus is on feral and stray cats and getting them spayed or neutered through TNR (trap, neuter, return) We lend traps and educate caregivers on proper TNR guidelines. We also work with many other shelters and organizations that are active with TNR and rescue. We operate on a full time basis and offer very high quality, low cost spay/neuter, as well as wellness services. This has been very beneficial for those with limited or fixed incomes as it allows them to receive vaccines and basic care for their cats. Our Campaign for Compassion program allow people to make donations towards those with ferals or strays who cannot otherwise afford to get them fixed. We have been able to spay or neuter over 150 cats at no expense to their caretakers through these donations. In 2017, we were also the recipient of the Petco Foundation grant that allowed us to spay/neuter, vaccinate and treat over 100 stray and feral cats in the Lycoming and Sullivan County area. We are a distribution center for the Pet Pantry of Lycoming County which offer food assistance to pet owners (dogs and cats) in need. In 2017 we started working on a Working Cat Program where hard to place cats can be placed in a workplace or farm environment, rather than being euthanized.
