The Ronald McDonald House of Danville, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization that provides a home-away-from-home for parents and families of critically ill children, many of whom are hospitalized or receiving outpatient care for the treatment of cancer and other serious illnesses. Since 1981, the House has served over 378,000 guests from 65 out of 67 counties in PA, 34 other states & 27 countries. The House is more than just a place to eat, sleep and shower. It provides a support system for families and helps to alleviate the physical, emotional and financial burdens families often face when their child is sick or injured. The House is also a proud sponsor of Camp Dost, a week long summer camp for children coping with cancer. This special camp gives children the opportunity to recapture their childhood. With activities abound, Camp Dost allows children to forget about their disease and have fun for an entire week. The newest service to the Ronald McDonald House is the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Geisinger's Janet Weis Children's Hospital. This Room is a comforting haven for families of critically ill children. Being just steps away, the Family Room extends the support of the House into the hospital setting by providing a place to eat, sleep and rest.
