Lewisburg, PA 17837
The LNC promotes neighborhood revitalization in Lewisburg Borough. Projects include streetscape improvements on South 7th and South 5th Streets in the Bull Run Neighborhoord as well as the ongoing Bull Run Greenway Planning Project, which should move out of public process and into Phase I Implementation in the coming year. In addition to work in the Bull Run Neighborhood, between Market St and Bucknell University, the LNC also supports residents throughout the Borough with programs like the Flood Impact Task Force and the Lewisburg River Town Team. The former examines the impacts of the Susquehanna on the life, property, and economy of the Borough and the latter focuses on the positive aspects of being situated along the river. The River Town Team looks at conservation, planning, events/awareness, and walkability/bikeability. On that last count, the Walk It! Bike It! Lewisburg initiative works to encourage and improve the experience of walking and biking in the Lewisburg area. It is a collaboration with residents in surrounding municipalities and cultivates connections with Union County's Planning Office and the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail. This spring WIBI is staging a River Road Holiday on River Road north of Buffalo Creek on Sunday, May 13, from 1 to 5pm, weather permitting. The road holiday will take place in collaboration with the Protect -- Preserve -- Play Street Fair organized by the CommUnity Zone on the section of North Water St connected to River Road. The road holiday will temporarily transform the existing road infrastructure in that location into a public promenade or River Walk, something otherwise not available in the Lewisburg area. It will bring people closer to the River and also to the booths, activities, food and live music of the conservation-themed street fair.
