The Mount Carmel Area Public Library is dedicated to supporting lifelong learning and access to information, knowledge and ideas within the communities we serve by providing high quality, innovative services; and creating a welcoming and comfortable physical environment. The Mount Carmel Area Public Library is located in the Borough of Mount Carmel in the Anthracite Region of Eastern-Central Pennsylvania. The Library serves the entire Mount Carmel Area School District, a population of 12,577 (2010 census) of which approx. 8,800 are library patrons. The Mount Carmel Area Public Library is the repository of local memorabilia honoring our various communities with their mixed cultures. We strive to foster an atmosphere that encourages diversity, excellence, and continued growth. The MCA Public Library is the home site of the Ed Romance Lower Anthracite Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame and the wall of recognition of gifts from Mount Carmel native and Hollywood actress Ellen Albertini Dow.
