The Repasz Band, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our Bylaws describe our missions as: (1) to provide a means for citizens to play in a community band and to make band music available to the public; (2) to promote music in the communities served by the Band; (3) to provide free or inexpensive concerts to the community on a regular basis; and (4) to provide opportunities for amateur musicians to play with professional musicians. The Repasz Band has a long history of participating in both local and national civic and patriotic events, from U.S. Presidential inaugural parades, annual Flag Day services, Little League parades and games, historic dedications (veterans’ monuments, General U. S. Grant’s Tomb in New York City in 1897 and 1997, Historic Bowman field). In 2015, The Band was the only band invited to perform at the 150th Anniversary of the Surrender of the Northern Army of Virginia at Appomattox, in April 2015; the Repasz Band enlisted as a band during the Civil War, and some of the members were present at Appomattox during the original surrender. The band also performs upon request for the City of Williamsport, Veterans Associations, outdoor summer concert associations, nursing homes, festivals and more traditional, formal concerts twice a year performing marches, popular music, and classic band literature. Admission to all performances by the Repasz Band is free to the public, although donations are accepted in support of the Band’s operating expenses.
