STEP's mission is to engage diverse individuals, families, and communities in the pursuit of social and economic success. This mission is fulfilled through five Pathways to Success - Early Learning, Housing Options, Workforce Development, Community Collaboration, and Independent Living. How does STEP impact our community? In 2016: Early Learning programs ensured that 1,424 infants and children receive age-appropriate immunizations and medical/dental care. 555 children participated in preschool activities that prepared them for kindergarten or first grade, and 609 caregivers learned and exhibit improved parenting skills. Housing Options programs helped 451 families maintain safe and affordable housing, provided services to 314 households seeking assistance with their utility budgeting, and helped 236 individuals obtain a waiver for utility security deposits. Workforce Development connected 974 caregivers with childcare so they could attend work or classes, and provided reliable transportation to work for 198 customers. Community Collaboration generated 23,087 hours of community service with a value of $504,235, and provided information and referral through 41,277 phone calls. Independent Living programs provided access to reliable transportation for 2,340 customers, with a total of 109,766 rides, and delivered 4,862 meals with the help of volunteers who contributed a total of 41,089 hours to STEP Office of Aging.
