The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. The Bloomsburg Service Center serves a population of over 52,000 people in Columbia County, helping those people living in such towns as Bloomsburg, Orangeville, Benton, Aristes, etc.. At this point, we also help coordinate needed emergency services for all of Montour County. This past year we gave Christmas gift boxes to 320 children, gave a Christmas meal to 198 families, gave a Thanksgiving meal to spent almost $17,000 on Back to School Shopping program for 172 children in Columbia & Montour Counties. Everyday, we help those in need with emergency financial assistance. Last fiscal year, we helped 356 people with emergency financial assistance, totaling almost $15,000.
