Thomas Beaver Free Library

317 Ferry Street
Danville, PA 17821

In 1888 philanthropist Thomas Beaver gave Danville and the surrounding area the architectural and historical gem which is the Thomas Beaver Free Library of today. Providing not only traditional "books" but also audio books, CDs, DVDs, e-books, magazines and newspapers as well as programs for children, teens and adults which encourage reading, writing and social interaction, the library endeavors to constantly remain relevant in a changing world. Public computers for word processing and internet access, microfilm that provides access to historical documents, and the Montour County Genealogical Society, which is housed within the library, to aid those researching their roots with its added resources, are all currently popular. For the past 129 years, the Thomas Beaver Free Library has been and continues to be the "Heart" of the community providing something for everyone in Montour County, as well as Rush Township and Riverside Borough in Northumberland County which comprise its service area.
