Raise the Region® was a huge success again this year, thanks to the generous support of 1,000s of residents who are passionate about the work of local nonprofit organizations in our region. The spirit of philanthropy is strong in our communities and collectively we have increased awareness and financial resources for many important causes in north central Pennsylvania.
Thank you again for joining us in this unique effort. Above all, we are grateful to Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships, Larson Design Group, Wal-Mart, M&T Bank, UPMC Susquehanna, Toyota Motor Corporation, Subaru Motor Company, Backyard Broadcasting, Lamar Advertising, Sunbury Broadcasting, WNEP and many other supportive media outlets. Without them, this event would not have been possible.
"FCFP is proud to provide a platform that celebrates area nonprofits and the communities they serve”, said Jason McCahan, Director of Strategic Philanthropy. “Since starting in 2013, north central Pennsylvania has shown its true spirit of philanthropy by donating over $5.8 million collectively to over 350 nonprofits during the 30-hour fundraising events.”
In addition to the online public donations, the participating nonprofits benefited from $150,000 in stretch funds and prizes from the Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships. Aubrey Alexander said, “Thank you to FCFP and to all the participating nonprofits for once again challenging each other and the community to outperform last year’s event. My family and I are very proud to be a of part Raise the Region, and we hope to be a part of it for many years to come.”
Monetary prizes and incentives totaling over $60,000, sponsored by Larson Design Group, M&T Bank, Subaru, Toyota Motor Corporation, UMPC Susquehanna and Walmart. were awarded throughout the day. Nonprofits were divided into two categories based on their annual operating budget allowing more organizations to receive prizes. Nonprofits with budgets less than $149,999 were classified as “small” while organizations over $150,000 were considered “large”.
