Who We Are

4 Paws Sake PA is a non-profit rescue dedicated to reuniting lost dogs with their owners. When there is no family looking for a found stray, we care for & provide safe sanctuary for the stray.

According to the Humane Society of the United States “there are about 70 million strays nationwide and an estimated 5 million to 7 million of those animals will wind up in one of the nation’s 3,500 shelters.” One of the best ways to help a homeless dog or cat is to spay/neuter a dog or cat. In 2025 4 Paws Sake PA has a goal of offering a cat spay/neuter resource in the community. We are working with a local vet to establish guidelines for this resource.

What We Do

When our team of dedicated volunteers get a call about a lost dog, we spring into action. We host a temporary holding kennel for found dogs to stay safe until their humans are located. If no one comes forward for a found dog, 4 Paws Sake PA finds a loving foster home & provides other necessary support like veterinarian care & trainer guided rehabilitation. According to DoSomething.org only 1 out of 10 dogs born in the US will find a home

Since opening in the fall of 2019, we have accepted 108 strays. 68 have been returned with their owners & 40 were rehomed into loving furever homes. Let us introduce you to a few 4 Paws strays that we have helped find furever homes! Make sure to also check out the gallery below of all the before and after pictures of our 4 Paws pups!!

4 Paws Dogs

2024 Freya was terribly thin when she entered the kennel, in spite of this, she brought a ton of puppy energy with her! Unfortunately, it was a lot of anxious energy. She escaped her kennel, she was not fully potty trained, & she appeared to have no doggy social skills. However, she was so sweet & crazy smart! To help with her anxiety we did brain games & took sniffaris but we also worked with our vet to get her anxiety meds. Freya has come a long way since her days at the kennel! She has a family that adores her, & she is living her best life completely med free!

2023 Sparky’s condition upon entering the kennel as a stray told us he had been neglected for a long time. Significant matting, ridiculously long nails, he was dirty and stinky, but his breath was the worst!  Despite his condition, he stood on his hind legs and danced! One look at him & it was easy to see that his physical condition did not stop him from being the happiest little dog! A trip to a generous groomer, a foster volunteer, a couple VERY expensive vet visits, & this little 6lb boy was finally healthy! Sparky’s story was one of our happiest of 2023, he found his furever home just in time for Christmas and now he has a warm lap and a kind human of his own.

2022 Meaty was found lying on the side of the road, it was reported that he had been there all day. Upon receiving a call about him, one of our board members jumped into action, picked him up & brought him to the kennel. He was skinny, so skinny. An immediate vet visit, resulted in a strict feeding regimen so to not overwhelm his system with too much food, too quickly. A foster quickly came forward & Meaty was off to meet his fur-foster siblings! His family quickly determined Meaty would not be leaving their home. Now Meaty is the one welcoming other foster dogs into his furever home! He will never go hungry again & he will never have to sleep on the side of a road.

2021 Lola was a stray that the community tried for 2 months to trap. Strangers with no experience set feeding stations, hung flyers, set a trap & trail cam. Then one day she just walked up to a little boy, police were called & she was taken to the 4 Paws kennel to begin her rescued life. She was so tired! She mostly slept her 1st 24 hrs. Her furever family came along & she is so spoiled! She loves sitting by the window & she is lost without her pillow & blanket. She is a total lapdog, and she still loves wearing her sweaters.

2020 Riley was found roaming the streets & she arrived to the kennel exhausted but so incredibly sweet. From the moment we met her, we knew she was meant to be part of a big family. It started with her foster family that involved Riley in everything they did. Then her furever family arrived and what started as 3, is now 5! Her dog brother, Sampson, another stray was adopted through 4 Paws Sake PA & joined the family in 2022 & then in 2024, her human brother Cameron arrived!

2019 Effie was our very first stray at 4 Paws. She was left tied to the fence. No shade, no water, no food, just tied to the fence alone. She was cuddly and super smart! It took some time to find her home but with the help of a local news station Riley found her furever home! Soon her human mama officially named her "Baby Princess Effie Coco" and not only did she get awesome parents, she also got an amazing fur brother, Andy! Now Effie has a partner in crime to enjoy adventures with.

Our efforts are rewarded with the stories & pictures of the happy furever families who have chosen to adopt. Lic #17325
