Who We Are

Firetree Place is a nonprofit community center, with a focus on youth development, that engages the community through enrichment activities and provides resources that will strengthen the community as a whole. Firetree Place ensures the educational and personal enrichment of our area’s youth, adults, and families by providing comprehensive programs, camps, and events that empower individuals to grow and succeed.

Our vision is to:
*Provide safe, challenging, engaging, and fun learning experiences to help children and youth develop their social, emotional, physical, cultural, and academic skills.
*Work in collaboration with schools and community resources to offer children, youth, families, and adults an array of accessible and diverse services and opportunities.
*Promote positive relationships among children, youth, families, and adults.
*Engage children, youth, families, adults, and community partners in ongoing design, implementation, and evaluation of activities.
*Invest in diverse, skilled, and committed staff.

What We Do

Firetree Place’s diverse programming provided at a low cost sets us apart in our city and allows us to play a vital role in the lives of our community’s children, youth, families, and adults. We provide essential programs for the community, including the following:

Before School Care and After School Club

Firetree Place’s Before School Care and After School Club program takes place Monday through Friday from 7 am – 9:00 am and 3-6pm for youth ages 5 – 13 years old. The youth who attend our programs receive transportation to and from school, a nutritious breakfast, dinner, and snack, homework help, structured recreation time, and participate in educational lesson plans that focus on soft and life skills.

Preschool for children ages 3-5 years old

Our newest youth program is our Preschool Classroom opened in April of 2024, and serves up to 20 children ages 3-5 and runs from 7am-5:30pm every day. A child’s day includes structured curriculum, physical activity time, nutritious meals, and plenty of play, which is vital for a young child’s growing mind.

Summer Camp

Our Summer Camp is a 10-week program that takes place Monday through Friday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm for youth ages 6 – 12 years old. The program consists of 2 – 3 field trips each week, structured programs and activities, indoor and outdoor recreation, and swimming. The youth also receive a healthy breakfast, nutritional lunch, and two snacks each day. These structured programs and activities are designed to engage and enrich each child’s summer camp experience.

Youth Sports and Recreation

Looking forward to the next few years, Firetree is excited to start implementing new youth recreation programs such as Basketball Camps, Soccer Camps, Pickleball League, Speed to Win, and continuing our Fundamental Cheer Program.

Although our primary focus is children and youth, we also provide adult programing such as:

Fresh Express Food Giveaway Program

Most Fridays, our Food Programs Director and multiple volunteers organize and hand out free produce and pantry items to those within the community. Each week we host the Fresh Express Program, we serve approximately 160 families, averaging 300-400 individuals.

Adult Recreation/Sports Programs

Every week, we hold Open Gym sessions for Pickleball, Basketball and Volleyball. We also run Pickleball Leagues and Tournaments, and an Adult Flag Football League multiple times a year!

Community Events

Every year, Firetree Place puts on multiple events for the community such as a Valentine's Day Dance, Easter Egg Hunt, Egg My Yard, Haunted House, and Christmas Activities. We enjoy giving our community activities and programs that get them involved and let them have some fun!

Our Why

Firetree Place is centrally located in downtown Williamsport where a large population of socioeconomically disadvantaged families and youth are within walking distance. A recent economic survey of our youth’s families shows that 60% of our families are considered extremely low to low income and the neighborhood surrounding Firetree Place experiences high food insecurity. There is a vital need for affordable, quality childcare in our area, and Firetree Place strives to provide this at the lowest cost possible. With our expansion project coming soon, we will be able to serve up to 200 local youth!

All of these things are only made possible thanks to our community and your support! Your donations move us forward in our mission!

We will continue to do our part to serve the families in our county, starting with the youth who call Firetree Place their second home. Firetree Place is fortunate to have a supportive community that rises to the challenge and together, we can work toward fulfilling Firetree Place’s mission to provide quality childcare, improve lives, and strengthen communities!

Thank you for your continued support of Firetree Place!
