Our mission is to revitalize and sustain the vital ranks of volunteer first responders in Montour, Columbia, Union, Northumberland, Lycoming, and Snyder counties. By focusing on recruitment, retention, and recognition, we aim to ensure every community meets NFPA 1720 standards for effective and efficient emergency response.

Through our comprehensive support programs—including life insurance, roadside assistance, telemedicine, counselling services, and wellness packages—we are dedicated to enhancing the well-being and resilience of those who selflessly serve to protect others. We recognize that solving the staffing challenges requires innovative, multi-dimensional approaches tailored to the diverse needs of our region.

Our initiatives include creating "fire clubs" in local schools, fostering partnerships with educational leaders, and bolstering protective services programs within regional Career and Technical Centers (CTCs). By strengthening these programs and connecting graduates to collegiate-level courses and "live-in" programs, we strive to build a pipeline of skilled and dedicated responders.

Additionally, the RIT organization offers a consulting element to support departments in their recruitment and retention efforts. Acting as a regional coordinator, we intend to provide essential services such as grant writing assistance, HR compliance, marketing strategies, budgeting and consolidation support, fundraising guidance, and basic station management solutions.

By engaging communities and connecting individuals with the tools and opportunities to contribute, we aim to create a sustainable and supportive environment for the volunteer first responders who are the backbone of emergency services.
