The Animal Resource Center (ARC) of Millville's mission is to provide temporary shelter for homeless, abused, and neglected domestic animals; educate the public on the welfare and care of cats and dogs; and act as advocates for animal rights. We are also dedicated to promoting the spaying and neutering of cats and dogs; thereby, reducing the number of animals who are homeless, unwanted or destroyed.

ARC has been a resource for the dogs, cats and people of our area since 1999. What began as a small, foster-based organization in the Bloomsburg area has since grown into a facility on 20 donated acres, powered by SOLAR ENERGY that houses over 100 animals. It is supported by a dedicated team of staff, board members, fosters and volunteers.

The generous support of our community has allowed us to grow into a valuable resource for the animals and people of Columbia, Luzerne, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, Tioga, Union and surrounding counties.

ARC follows a no-kill philosophy, working to give the dogs and cats in our care every opportunity to be placed into forever homes. We ensure that any animal entering our shelter is given the veterinarian care they need to be healthy and available for adoption, even if it means seeking specialized care or diagnostics through veterinary hospitals like Cornell University & UPenn.

Our adoptable cats and kittens are free to roam together in units of about 15 cats each.  The 2 adult units have outside access to a contained, sun porch. Our kitten fosters welcome orphaned kittens, pregnant and nursing mothers or medically fragile cats into their homes and families. With their support, we are able to provide an even higher quality of care to our most vulnerable and fragile residents.

ARC assists police & codes enforcement officers whether it be animals hit by cars, hoarding cases, evictions with animals left behind, ARC is there after normal business hours to assist in these special cases.  ARC has helped to not only trap dozens of stray dogs, but also owned ones who have strayed too far from home and are unable to find their way back.  Such is the case of Levon, who was lost 3 hrs from home during a firework display, only to show up 40 miles away 6 months later during freezing temperatures! And Holly, who evaded capture for weeks in freezing cold temps.

With the support and encouragement of our community, we have accomplished so much since we opened our doors 25 years ago. We hope you will support the Animal Resource Center as we continue expanding, evolving and serving the animals and people of our community.
