Muncy was once a thriving river town in Lycoming County. Access to the Susquehanna River, endless outdoor recreation opportunities, a quintessential historic downtown, thriving farming land, real estate opportunities, and a great community all together make the Great Muncy area one of the most up and coming areas to live and visit. Downtown Muncy, Inc. mission is to lead revitalization and the community to ensure Muncy is once again a thriving town.

Purpose: Help businesses arrive and thrive in 21st Century Muncy, while preserving, protecting, and utilizing Muncy’s historic architecture and natural recreational resources for community members and visitors

Specific Purpose: Downtown Muncy Incorporated ’s (DMI) primary role is to support, seek out, and assist new and existing businesses in the Greater Muncy area with a concentration in the Muncy Borough. Downtown Muncy’s economic vitality is crucial to the revitalization of our town.  It is DMI’s responsibility to identify market trends and the needs of our growing community and to create opportunities, recruit new business, and foster a positive economic environment and community for all.

The specific objectives and purpose of this organization shall be:

• Attract new small businesses to grow a downtown area that attracts visitors and provides stores for our community to shop local

• Work with larger existing businesses and organizations in Greater Muncy to focus on creating and maintaining jobs for those living in Muncy or those who would like to live in Muncy

• Create a resource of volunteers to help existing and new businesses thrive in Muncy

• Establish a community center with educational resources for our youth and professionals to retain local talent to live and work in Muncy

• Revitalize historical architecture and improve our streetscapes to beautify Downtown Muncy

• Incorporate a walkable/bikeable town that connects the community to their downtown businesses and outdoor recreation

• Host community events to bring our community together and to attract visitors
