Haven Ministry is a 24/7/365 homeless shelter and emergency food pantry located in Sunbury. We have served our community and the surrounding counties and we have assisted over 5300 clients since opening in 1992. We help less fortunate men, women, and families with children become independent, contributing citizens by helping them with the resources to find income and their own homes. We provide clothing, meals, personal care items, and whatever other needs there may be. We help them obtain copies of their birth certificates, social security cards, photo ID cards, and other personal papers they need. We make sure that every child is enrolled in school and has clean clothing, a warm coat, backpacks and anything needed for their education. Since children are very important to us, we celebrate every holiday and their birthday by making sure each child has a birthday party with cake, ice cream and presents.  In addition to our own children, this past December we assisted 62 families of 159 children from the community with Christmas toys, clothing, and a Christmas ham or turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Since transportation is an issue in our area, we provide adults bicycles needed to get to work and they are allowed to take their bicycle with them when they move on or with money from our special fund, we help them ride "The Hopper" public transportation. We have an emergency food pantry filling 50 or more food requests each month. In 2024, we filled 561 food requests, helping 862 adults and 569 children fight food insecurity.  We depend on the generosity of businesses, churches, and individuals to make our mission possible and fulfill our goals for each individual. The building of the new addition is complete, giving us nine more rooms and brand new laundry, doubling our capacity.  We are now in the process of a much needed remodel of our original eight rooms and common areas. Haven Ministry receives no government funds so we are counting on the support of the communities that we serve to help us help more people.  This is why your support is so important.  We appreciate all donations large and small and we are the best stewards with every penny donated.
