The Queen of the Susquehanna, The Hiawatha, has been sailing since 1982, as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization to attract tourism to Williamsport and Lycoming County and to ensure the residents of the area are able to enjoy the breathtaking views of the majestic Susquehanna River and the Allegheny Mountains surrounding the venue. Throughout the 6-month season, May thru October, you cannot miss the sight of the timeless red, white and blue replica Paddlewheel cruising on the West Branch of the Susquehanna.
The Hiawatha resides at Susquehanna State Park, a 10-acre low impact park that offers walking trails, cross country skiing, boat launch conveniences, picnic facilities, bird watching and so much more that nature has to offer. The Hiawatha is truly incredible, and we are honored to have such a unique vessel and park in our region. The Hiawatha is a must-see attraction for all ages, you will not be disappointed!

The Queen of the Susquehanna, during the 2015 season, celebrated their one-millionth passenger and since then has with vengeance and customer focus set its sights on serving the next million passengers. The Hiawatha supports the Lycoming and surrounding Counties' businesses, hotels, restaurants, schools, non-profits and residents with its vision and mission. HIAWATHA, INC., is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization headed by a Board of community leaders whose mission is to increase tourism, facilitate economic development and provide education on the history and ecology of the Susquehanna River, the lumbering history and provide an overview on the opportunities that the river created and continues to create for our region.
Who We Are ---a quick synopsis
For 44 years the Hiawatha Paddlewheel Riverboat has provided river cruises to over 1,320,000 guests visiting Williamsport and Lycoming County. The Hiawatha serves over 28,500 visitors annually from May – October. As a nonprofit organization, the Hiawatha enhances the quality of life; benefiting schools, hotels and restaurants, regional conventions, local industry, the general public, and major regional attractions such as the Little League World Series.
In 1982, the Hiawatha set sail on the Susquehanna River as a community tourism initiative sponsored by the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce with financial support by the community and volunteer laborers. The mission of the Hiawatha is to be a successful and vital tourism resource in support of the region's tourism industry and to provide and interlinking experience to our residents and visitors to the mighty Susquehanna River and the Allegheny Mountains.
