Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library

A nonprofit organization

The mission of the Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library is to provide free, equal and confidential access to materials, information and services in a wide variety of formats to meet the educational, recreational, cultural, and social needs of our community and to support lifelong learning.

We offer year round programming opportunities for both children and adults in addition to our large collection of items including books, DVDs, audiobooks, and electronic books. Recurring programming events include Book Bingo, LEGO Club, Crocheting Club, Healing Chair Yoga, Preschool Storytime & Movement, Family STEM Night, monthly visits from Bloomsburg Children's Museum, guest authors, and multiple book clubs. In addition to these year round activities, we also host a 6 week Summer Reading program series which typically features guest presenters and/or experts in a particular field of study. Week to week, all students grades K-6 are encouraged to read (or be read to) for at least 20 minutes most days and fill out a reading log which they can return completed for either a free book of their choice or a small incentive prize.

Our library primarily serves residents throughout the City of Shamokin and Coal Township areas though membership is free for all Northumberland County citizens ages 3 and up.

We also off open Wi-Fi connectivity for all within range, free public computer use, and copying/printing services for a small fee.
