HELP FUND SJNRA'S 21st CENTURY GOAL
St. John Neumann Regional Academy educates students in PreK-3 through 12th Grade. We are a Catholic school system serving families in the greater Williamsport area. We are looking to raise $10,000 or more to repair, renovate, prepare, & populate our NEW STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, Music) classroom.
Read on to see how SJNRA EDUCATES CHILDREN IN A SAFE, GOD- ENRICHED LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.
WHO WE ARE...CATHOLIC FIRST
At St. John Neumann Regional Academy, we believe all are called to grow in the understanding and practice of Gospel values, to live a faith-filled relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and to share their unique gifts with their parish and community. Tied in with a robust and guaranteed curriculum based upon state and national standards, prayer is integrated throughout our school day, and all students have Religion/Theology class daily. At the High School Level Theology courses are taught by local clergy. Mass is celebrated weekly at St. Boniface Parish where our Academy congregates together.
Students learn the Catholic faith through their daily classes, attendance at Mass and various prayer services, Penance services, Benediction, recitation of the Holy Rosary and Stations of the Cross.
PRIORTIZING EDUCATION & PROGRESSIVE OPPORTUNITIES...
VAST EDUCATION OPPORTUNITES
Our average class size is 15 students. We believe that our younger students learn from the positive influence of older students and from our highly qualified and state-certified teachers. In many cases, classes are smaller. Pre-K and Elementary grades participate in written and planned curricula in the Unified Arts (Visual Art, Physical Education, Health, General Music, and Spanish). Instrumental, Ensemble, Mass-Performance Band and Drum Corp Music opportunities begin in 4th grade. Students have the opportunity of performing together, in concerts, and during Academy Masses. This occurs weekly within the school-day schedule.
PROGRESSIVE IDEAS
At the secondary level, courses range from grade-level sections to honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Additionally, we offer Dual Enrollment courses on site, have local course agreements for students to participate in Lycoming College, Penn College, and Lyco CTC courses off site. During Senior Year, Seniors spend one day a week out in the workforce participating in a supervised co-op or internship set-up by a SJNRA administrator and advisor. SJNRA also has MOUs with 5 Catholic Universities to provide our students with "major" (ie. $25,000/yr) 4-year college scholarships for graduating from SJNRA).
Our teachers are fully certified by the state and have all required clearances. SJNRA is accredited by the Middle States Association and is a Diocese of Scranton Catholic School system.
OUR COMMITMENTS...
The St. John Neumann Regional Academy is committed to the following:
The Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Catholic faith will be the foundation of everything we do.
Religion and Theology will be taught daily and promoted as the most important part of our curriculum.
The celebration of Mass and sacraments will be essential and frequent parts of our academic calendar.
Prayer will begin and end every day and be present in virtually every class and school activity.
Our curriculum will be vertically aligned and will be vetted to follow national, state, and especially catholic and Diocesan standards.
Students will study a vast array of literature, visual arts, cultural significant artifacts along with being educated in an environment full of religious art, sacred images, often by priests and religious sisters.
An age-appropriate promotion of the Church's pro-life, pro-family, pro-chastity teachings will distinguish us from the popular culture.
All students will be familiar with Catholic traditions of the spiritual life: Eucharistic adoration, the Rosary, the liturgical year, and devotion to the saints. All local Diocesan priests will participate in many celebrations.
We will ensure that the spiritual and moral formation of our children is paramount, for, without this, no education is complete.
OUR GOAL & HOW CAN YOU HELP?
To help further the learning experiences of our student, SJNRA looks to continue to increase its offerings in 21st Century Learning opportunities. SJNRA is looking to convert its previous wood working workshop into a STREAM Lab. STREAM is the combined study of Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, and Math. Our goal is $10,000 as we look to deconstruct the workshop, repair and renovate (heating, ceiling, painting, leaking ceiling, lighting, ventilation, and other unforeseen needs)areas of the proposed room(s), increase technology within the area, expand any independent projects within the classroom(s) for all grade levels, and add any fixtures that would be needed to complete the space.
Thanks for doing what you can do, so we can do what we do best--EDUCATE CHILDREN IN A SAFE, GOD- ENRICHED LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.
