The Gate House offers seven rooms of which five rooms are dedicated to families and two for individuals. In addition to providing shelter, we seek to empower homeless residents at the shelter to gain independence by identifying permanent housing and supportive services to help residents transition back into the community.

As a part of our "Road to Independence" program, we offer:

- Shelter

- Housing First Case Management

- Obtaining Vital Documents

- Counseling referrals

- Job Training

- Financial literacy/budgeting classes

- Nutrition workshops

Over the last ten years, we have transitioned over 920 residents, majority of which were transitioned in under less than 90 days. We also work with our partner agencies who assist our residents in overcoming barriers to transition.

On behalf of The Gate House Shelter, we extend our deepest gratitude for your generous donation. Your contribution is making a meaningful impact on the lives of those experiencing homelessness.

Who We Are

The mission of the Gate House is to provide shelter and case management services as a gateway to independence for homeless families and individuals in the Central Susquehanna Valley. Along with shelter and case management services, the Gate House offers its own unique programming including: budgeting classes, information and referral to local services, career counseling, and life-skills workshops. Located on the grounds of the Danville State Hospital, the Gate House provides a serene sanctuary from the restlessness and panic of living on the streets.
