Billtown Blues Association Inc

A nonprofit organization

The Billtown Blues Association, BBA, story began 35 years ago. Although a primitive beginning, with just 6 people donating $50 each to produce a blues festival, the vision was much bigger. As this special indigenous musical art form was being heard on local radio, live performances experienced, and educational programs being created, it was decided the local enthusiasts wanted to become part of the world-wide effort to protect, preserve, and perpetuate American born roots music. Along the way, more events were being produced with an eye for exposing the area's youth to this special music of historical and cultural importance, (a void in public school music education), and the festival kept growing to become one of the most recognized and longest-running blues festival on the US national stage. The events themselves are merely the "vehicle" the BBA uses to draw attention to and exploit the core purpose which is to enhance community arts, expose the music to the youth, and educate the public on the importance of the valued art form. A by-product of our mission is the availability of a world-class festival experience within Lycoming County, a summer "staycation" for many, a reunion among family and friends for others, that serves local residents, and draws tourists from far and wide to enjoy all that Lycoming County has to offer. Recently the traditional one-day festival expanded to three days offering more music variety, supporting more local and touring artists, and further enhancing community arts. Funds raised thru the Raise the Region effort have become an essential part of our sustainability, maintaining the quality and high standards of each of our events. Raise the Region donors are responsible for allowing us to maintain affordable, family-priced admissions, with kids 16 and younger are complimentary guests, despite annual increases in operational costs to produce our events. The BBA thanks all past donors and welcome you to become part of our donor family again in 2024. For those new to the BBA or just now learning about our mission, we welcome you on board and can't begin to thank you enough for supporting our work.
