The Berwick Historical Society

A nonprofit organization

We are trying to raise money to continue the restoration of Mrs. Jackson’s Original Vegetable Garden.  The garden will have four quadrants of equal size and dimension.  Pea gravel walkways will be throughout the garden with a large concrete fountain in the center of the garden.  This garden is located behind the two servants’ houses and also behind the McBride Library.  The garden’s large space is one acre.  The garden will be used to grow fruits and vegetables that will be distributed to local food kitchens.  Cutting flowers will also be grow to be used inside of the Jackson Mansion.  Different organizations will be involved in the planting and harvesting of Mrs. Jackson’s Garden. There will be a lecture space and fountains with concrete benches for students and everyone to use.  All ages will benefit from this community garden.  A installed fence, fountain, and 12 concrete benches have already been paid for.

Remaining to finish the garden:  electrical work, leveling the site, raised beds materials and installlation of beds, pea gravel, lecture space built, and garden plants and boxwood outlines.
